Woodcarving
Tiles is a woodcarving project originated from the traditional roof in Huizhou, Anhui Province, China. The unique shape of each individual tile forms its special construction way, which ultimately creates another unique appearance of the roof - a group of tiles. Such a kind of transfer between individuality and collectiveness is the most featuring point of the traditional tiles. As a result, this project captures both elevation of individual tile and overall appearance of the whole roof in one picture.

All I can recall of Huizhou is
the shining sunshine of spring
and us
who ate and
laughed all the way along the river
with the smell of chives
from the pancake.
